Terms and conditions

These terms cover your use of the KanjiHybrid app and this website, both provided by Bridge360 Inc. Using the app means you accept them.

Your account

You sign in with an email address and a six-digit code. Keep access to that inbox secure, because anyone who can read it can sign in as you. You must be 13 or older to create an account. One person, one account.

Using the app

Use KanjiHybrid to learn. Do not use it to:

• Break the law, or help anyone else to.
• Harass, threaten or abuse anyone, including through what you send the assistant.
• Attempt to extract, scrape or redistribute the conversion dictionary, which is licensed IP and not yours to copy.
• Probe, overload or interfere with the service, or work around its usage limits.
• Impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your connection to us.

We can suspend or close an account that does these things. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why first.

What the assistant is, and is not

Chat replies are generated by an AI language model. It is a practice partner, not a teacher and not an authority. It can be confidently wrong about readings, grammar, usage and facts, and it should not be relied on for anything consequential. Check anything that matters against a dictionary or a human.

Do not send the assistant personal information you would not want stored, and do not send anyone else's. What you send is transmitted to our AI provider to produce a reply, as described in the privacy policy.

Who owns what

You keep ownership of what you write. You grant us the licence we need to run the service with it: to store your messages, send them to the AI provider for a reply, and show them back to you.

We own the app, the website, the branding, and the KanjiHybrid conversion method and its dictionary. The dictionary derives from Vee David's Kanji Handbook method and is licensed, not public domain. Nothing here transfers any of it to you. The kanji reference data is derived from KANJIDIC2, used under CC BY-SA 4.0 from the Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group.

Free and paid

KanjiHybrid is free to download. Some capabilities may be limited on the free tier, and paid tiers may be offered in future through the App Store or Google Play. If we introduce them, pricing and what each tier includes will be shown before you buy, and billing, renewals and refunds are handled by whichever store you bought through under its own terms.

Availability

The app is in active development and is currently distributed for testing. It can change, break, or be unavailable without notice, and features can be added or removed. We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Ending things

You can stop using KanjiHybrid whenever you like and have your data deleted: in the app under Profile, in the Danger zone, or through the deletion form if you have already removed it. We may end or suspend access if you break these terms, or if we discontinue the service. The sections on ownership and liability survive the account being closed.

Liability

The app is provided as-is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost data, or for anything arising from reliance on AI-generated content. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date above changes when we do, and continued use after that means you accept the new version. If a change materially reduces your rights, we will make it clear in the app before it takes effect.
